Israel has shown remarkable strength and resilience under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have successfully neutralized numerous threats, disrupted terror networks, and demonstrated clear military superiority over enemies like Hamas and Hezbollah.

However, as the dust settles, many in Israel’s strategic and defense communities are beginning to ask an uncomfortable question:

Did we stop too soon when we had the upper hand?

While Hamas and Hezbollah remain immediate dangers, their power is drawn from one source — the regime in Tehran. Iran’s support for terror is not just financial; it’s ideological, operational, and long-term.

For decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has:

  • Funded terror cells in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria

  • Provided advanced weapons and drones used against Israel and its allies

  • Promoted anti-Israel propaganda across the Muslim world

  • Pressed forward with nuclear ambitions despite global pressure

During the latest conflict, Israel had momentum. With strong international backing, overwhelming military superiority, and growing internal pressure within Iran itself, the timing seemed right to increase strategic pressure — possibly even encourage internal change in Iran through diplomatic, cyber, and economic means.

But instead of continuing, Israel backed off. And now, the Iranian regime is recovering, regrouping, and planning its next move.

Israel must not be misunderstood. This is not a call for war — it is a call for vision. A call for clarity. A call for policy that goes beyond simply reacting to Iranian-backed attacks. The Iranian regime, if left unchecked, could emerge even more dangerous in the coming years, armed with nuclear technology and surrounded by heavily armed proxies.

Israel has the tools — cyber, diplomatic, intelligence, and psychological operations — to weaken the Iranian regime without sending soldiers across borders.

But the window is closing.

  1. Renewed Diplomatic Pressure: Lead an international coalition against the Iranian regime’s terror sponsorship and human rights violations.

  2. Support Iranian Civil Movements: Help amplify the voices of Iranians fighting for freedom and democracy.

  3. Cyber and Intelligence Operations: Continue disrupting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure.

  4. Clear Strategic Messaging: Declare openly that Iran’s current regime is incompatible with peace in the Middle East.

Israel’s military and intelligence capabilities are unmatched in the region. But power unused is power wasted. History may judge this moment as a missed opportunity to remove a threat at its roots.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has delivered great victories — but the Iranian regime remains the shadow over Israel’s future. If Israel truly seeks lasting peace, the strategy must evolve.

Better strategy now, than greater danger later.
