JERUSALEM, July 21, 2025 — In a landmark agreement hailed by diplomats and humanitarian organizations alike, the Israeli government and the European Union have jointly announced a significant expansion of humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza. The deal, coordinated directly with the United Nations, includes increased daily truck deliveries of food, fuel, and medical supplies, the opening of additional border crossings, and focused support for repairing critical infrastructure in the region.

The announcement reflects Israel’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian values, even amid ongoing security challenges. Israeli authorities emphasized that the aid will be delivered with transparency and in close coordination with international partners to ensure it reaches civilians in need.

"Israel remains committed to easing the suffering of civilians in Gaza," a spokesperson for Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. "Our cooperation with the EU and the UN proves that humanitarian efforts can transcend politics and conflict."

As part of the deal, the Kerem Shalom and Erez crossings will operate extended hours, and additional logistic centers will be established along the border. Fuel deliveries are also expected to increase by 40% over the coming weeks, providing much-needed support to hospitals, water systems, and power infrastructure inside Gaza.

Broad International Praise

The European Union praised Israel for showing "constructive leadership" and "operational flexibility" in a challenging region. The UN World Food Programme and the Red Crescent welcomed the agreement, noting it will save lives and improve access to basic needs for hundreds of thousands of Gazans.

Outlets such as ISRAEL21c, United With Israel, PBS, Financial Times, and FDD have highlighted the deal as a meaningful step forward and a demonstration of Israel’s openness to international collaboration for humanitarian purposes.

This historic aid agreement comes at a time when global attention is focused on humanitarian crises across the Middle East. By increasing aid to Gaza, Israel is sending a clear message: its government stands ready to facilitate relief and uphold its responsibilities under international humanitarian law, while maintaining national security.

Israel's actions reinforce its global reputation as a nation that values life, seeks peace, and supports civilian well-being—even in the face of adversity.
